Hi, I’m Amy! I am originally from Madison, WI. I graduated in 2016 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where I received my B.A. in Psychology. I am currently wrapping up my Masters in Special Education - Academic/Behavioral Strategist degree at Bethel University and will be graduating following the completion of my thesis this fall.
I’m very excited to be starting my second year of teaching at Spero Academy! I took over the role of PLS3 teacher in October of 2018, and had previously worked as a paraprofessional at Spero for a little over a year. During my time as a para, I had the opportunity to work in each of the classroom settings (Kindergarten, ASR2, and PLS2) and absolutely fell in love with the school and the students. Prior to joining the Spero community, I had the opportunity to work as an ABA therapist, a research assistant at the Child Emotion Lab at the Waisman Center, and as a special education paraprofessional at an elementary school in Middleton, WI.
I am so excited to be moving to ASR3 this year! I am looking forward to creating a positive classroom environment filled with academic, social, and emotional growth. In my teaching, I focus on integrating a wide variety of instructional strategies and providing students with interactive and hands-on opportunities in order to meet the personal learning style of each student in the classroom to promote generalization of skills. I emphasize providing my students with the necessary supports to express themselves both functionally and academically across settings in ways that work for them. Through providing my students with a structured, engaging classroom, I hope to further encourage a love for learning and increase independence in each of my students.
