Hello, I am Lucy Kanaventi. This is my fourth year at Spero Academy! I’m excited to be back, and in our brand new beautiful school! I graduated from St. Cloud State in 2011 in special education. I got my first teaching job at LeSueur-Henderson and taught there for 3 years. I wanted to be closer to family, so I was a substitute teacher throughout the metro area for a year. I was able to see a variety of schools to find my best fit, which was here at Spero Academy! My family and I live in Minneapolis. We have a 4.5-year-old son who is full of energy, so he keeps us on our toes, and gives us so much joy!
For academics this year, I plan on keeping our focus on functional academics. What will help them every day and in the future? What can help them be as independent as possible? How can we help them be the best version of themselves, and be so proud of themselves and their accomplishments? Those questions will help define my teaching over the next year.
We plan on implementing technology to help students communicate and create interactive lessons that are fun and engaging.
My goal is to see students grow socially, academically, and in their independence, as they embrace my classroom as their second home.
