Grade Level 3
Welcome to 3rd Grade! My name is DaVonté Robertson. In August of 2018 I was given the phenomenal opportunity to begin my teaching career at Spero Academy. The 2020-2021 academic year, will begin my third year of teaching. For the last two years I taught fourth grade. I’m ecstatic for the opportunity to learn and grow with your child in third grade.
This year in third grade I want to create an exciting and engaging classroom by educating the whole child by working through academic, behavioral, social and emotional challenges. All children have the potential to be even greater than they already are and I hope to help make that difference this year.
We will be with the other third grade students and teachers during morning meeting, physical education, music, social skills, regulation, recess, lunch, science, social studies and art. A few students may also push-in or push-out during reading and math too. This allows all the students to get to know each other, have their specific academic needs met, and get to know the other teachers and paraprofessionals.
This year in reading our focus will be on reading to learn. Students will work to increase their comprehension skills, with support asking and answering questions based on literary text, and working to understand the structure of literary texts and why an author writes a story. In writing with guidance and support from adults and peers students will be learning to apply writing mechanics and proper grammar to their own writing. Students will also begin to learn to write fluently and learn about different traits and forms of writing. In math we will be learning about multiplication and division, place value, fractions, decimals, rounding, patterns, money, geometry, problem solving, and algebraic skills.
In my free time I love exploring new places, reading, playing with my cats named Opal and Max, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Please NEVER hesitate to contact me with anything you need, or need me to know. I will always do my best to get back to you sometime during the day or early evening. Email, and Seesaw work best for me, but you can always call.
