Katherine Kohorst

I am Ms. Katherine, and this is my 2nd year teaching at Spero Academy, and my 8th year teaching special education.  I previously taught at Bridge View School in St. Paul, and PALS Autism School in Vancouver BC, and I have worked with all ages and many types of learners.

I employ a strengths-based and holistic approach to special education.  I use pieces of ABA and Positive Behavior Strategies in the classroom, in addition to focusing on social emotional learning, and individualized academic targets.  Through all of this, I weave an undercurrent of fun and positivity, because who wants to be part of a learning community that doesn't have fun together?

I have a hilarious and pretty intense kiddo at home.  When I'm not teaching or mothering, I can be found biking, camping, volunteering at Boneshaker Books Collective, and singing Shape Notes.
