Music Therapist

I am excited to welcome you to Spero Academy’s music class!

I am a Board Certified Music Therapist with a varied background and have worked in multiple settings in the field. I have been practicing Music Therapy since 2001 and maintain current trends in music therapy through continued learning.

I am looking forward to teaching the students new songs and having them participate in a variety of musical experiences to increase their musical knowledge, while improving their social, motor, emotional, communication and academic skills.

I hope to see all of you at our two annual concerts!

Spero Academy's music program provides all students music classes two times a week. This provides the students the opportunity to explore many areas of music such as the exploration of different instruments and methods of creating and making music. Spero Academy follows the Minnesota State standards and the students perform two all school concerts each year. These concerts have grown to be one of the most popular events for our students and families.

Our students learn music fundamentals through a variety of musical experiences. For many students music can be a motivating factor while working on general school success skills. Groups will include evidence based music therapy interventions to work towards academic, social, motor and communication skill development.

Individual music therapy is available when necessary for a student to achieve their academic goals. Depending on a student’s specific needs, music therapy may be offered as a direct service or as a consultant service to support a special education teacher by providing effective ways to incorporate music into their academic curriculum.
