What is the future of Spero Academy?

We are excited about the new initiatives that Spero Academy is establishing in 2018. Our dedication to a comprehensive education for students with autism and other disabilities, is supported by substantial support and encouragement from our community. Building on that success, we are in the process of designing a new look for Spero Academy, as well as a new building designed to support children and delight all students and their families. Our intent is to become the leading educational expert for students with disabilities in Minnesota.

A Subtle and Sensitive New Look

At Spero Academy, we offer every student a high-quality education and a calm, welcoming environment in which to pursue it. We carefully assemble our highly qualified staff by prioritizing caring and compassionate individuals because we know those traits enhance their teaching abilities. We want our community to have a clearer understanding of our focus on the values that represent our staff, so we are changing our presentation to reflect the softer, empathetic side of our Spero persona.

Moving forward, you'll note that the colors of our imagery are softening from brights and bolds to pastels and neutrals. We chose the new hues and shades because they represent trust, empathy, growth, and optimism, each of which is a foundational tenet of our school. We hope you will enjoy the new "look" of Spero Academy as much as we do!

A Sensory-Sensitive New Space

After several years in our rented space on 6th Street, we are excited to be moving into a new facility in 2018. The August 22, 2017 groundbreaking ceremony was the first step to making our dream of a 21st-century learning center a physical reality.

The new Spero Academy facility will be so much more than just a new building, however. Our designers, HDR Inc., worked for months to ensure that the new layout and surfaces incorporate the building and education industries' best practices for schools that support students with disabilities, focusing specifically on researched-based design for students with an autism spectrum disorder. Designed to reduce environmental and sensory barriers while facilitating learning and fun, the new Academy will be a safe and calming place for every student and all those who support and love them.
