Carl Schlueter

Hello and welcome to the 2026–27 school year at Spero Academy! We are excited to welcome nearly 300 students across both of our campuses, along with many caring and dedicated faculty and staff members.

This is my first year as Executive Director of Spero Academy. I am a former teacher and licensed administrator, and I previously served as the Executive Director of both a K-8 charter public school and community development nonprofit. I believe deeply in the Spero Academy mission and am truly honored to join such a special learning community. 

As Executive Director, I oversee the financial, operational, academic, and policy functions of the school. I report directly to the Spero Academy School Board, and am accountable to our Authorizer, The University of St. Thomas, as well as to the Minnesota Department of Education. I office at both campuses, presently Brooklyn Park on Mondays and Wednesdays, and NE Minneapolis on Tuesdays and Thursdays, alternating Fridays between both.

Thank you for being a valuable and important part of the Spero Academy school community. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in the coming year. Together, we will make 2026–27 another year of learning, growth, connection, and success for all of our students!
