Physical Education

Spero Academy offers Physical Education daily throughout the year including a Health curriculum and D.A.P.E. Services. The goal in Physical Education class at Spero Academy is to teach the entire child through fine and gross motor skills. These include: movement skills, object control skills, physical fitness, and individual/group activities. At Spero Academy we really want to focus on social development within the P.E. setting on a daily basis. We promote healthy eating and staying active throughout their educational experience.

Hello there! My name is Ryan Toland and I am a Physical Education teacher and DAPE specialist at Spero Academy. I am a Virginia transplant who arrived this July. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and my Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. What began as a professional development, teaching Adapted Physical Education quickly became my passion. I have enjoyed working with students with varying learning differences for 12 years and look forward to continuing my career in Minnesota! My wife and I are the proud parents of two beautiful boys. We spend our free time playing and being as active as we can. I hope to pass on that passion to each student who I have the opportunity to work with. Spero is an amazing school and I look forward to being a part of this community for years to come!

My name is Morgan McGarry and I am a Physical Education teacher and DAPE specialist here at Spero Academy! I'm from New Brighton and I graduated from Bethel University. When I'm not teaching you can find me at the gym weight training or in a yoga class, cooking pasta in my kitchen, or in your local coffee shop. I'm excited to be here and be apart of the Spero team where I can bring a positive attitude, high energy and excitement to PE class!
